DME Girls Go Undefeated at Home Over Weekend
DME Girl’s stepped foot on their home court to play for the first time this weekend against Impact Academy and Superior Collegiate Academy.
Saturday night, DME prevailed over Impact, 57-48, with Alexis Duckett scoring 18 points. Kyani Moore added 11 points and 9 rebounds, while Tyla Happer had 12 points. Hilani Cantone also reached double figures with 10 points. DME Girl’s started off rocky, trailing 9 points at the end of the 1st quarter.
With a team effort, hustling making some great defensive plays, they cut the lead down to 3 points at halftime, 21-18.
Despite them trailing all game, the girls pulled the game away with a 9 point lead, 57-48.
Sunday, DME Sports Academy Girl’s breezed through Superior Collegiate Academy in a dominant win, 76-32.
DME Girl’s had a team effort with all 6 players scoring at least 7 points.
Lexi Duckett led the team 24 points. Kyani Moore also trailed behind Duckett with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Hilani Cantone also pitched in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Mary McMillan had 7 points, 8 assists and Brianna Raynor had 8 points 10 rebounds.
With the team consisting of all sophomores, with an exception of Lexi Duckett, Kyani Moore, and Tyla Happer, the team is considered to be very young but the score didn’t show that Sunday.
They move to 4-1 in the season with a tough game at West Oaks in Orlando, FL, this Tuesday.
